PXC’s top welterweight prospect Josh “Killa” Calvo (7-2) looks for his second straight win inside the PXC cage as he is set to face a very durable UFC vet in Athony Torres (5-2) at the much-anticipated PXC 38, happening on August 9th in Guam.
Josh Calvo confirmed the bout through his Facebook account:
“Back in the Terror Dome August 9th. I’ll be fighting UFC veteran Anthony Torres in PXC on Guam. I’m looking forward to take that next step to the main goal!”
The Calvo made his PXC debut in March 8th at PXC 36 against Johnavan Vistante. The submission specialist Calvo imposed his will early and took the fight to the ground where he controlled the Hawiian fighter until he saw the opportunity to submit his foe via RNC in the 3:44 mark of the very first round.
Calvo is undoubteldy one of the best welterweights in the region today as he possess a very terrifying ground game and a solid striking which made him a legit threat to PXC’s welterweight division.
The 24-year-old Calvo aims to become the PXC champion by taking out some of the most bloodcurdling welterweights in his division.
Calvo’s skills will be put to test once again as he takes on one of Hawaii’s rising prospects in Torres.
PXC 38 will also feature a very intriguing match up between two of the most powerful flyweights in the region today, as Filipino KO specialist Eugene Toquero (4-0) welcomes the most successful Thai MMA fighter at present, Rambaa Somdet (10-2), inside the PXC cage.
Also, another Guam vs. Hawaii match up is set between Russell Doane and Kyle Aguon for a possible contender spot for the PXC bantamweight title.
Stacked PXC 38 will also feature a women’s MMA contest between Japan’s own Emi Tomimatsu versus Hawaii’s pride, Kailin Curran.
