Although the Taimanglo vs. Tanaka has been scratched in the fight card due to Taimanglo and Hong Seung Chan getting injured in training, it turned out to be an MMA card full of stacked local and international talents despite of the unfortunate changes.
Harris “The Hitman” Sarmiento will be defending his lightweight title against a talented fighter from Laguna, Philippines, Isiah “Ice” Ordiz.
“We are very excited to kick off the year with great matchups at PXC-35 in the Philippines,” says PXC CEO, EJ Calvo. “The card features fighters from all over the world along with rising MMA talent from the Philippines,” Calvo adds.
Another match-up that everybody is talking about is a flyweight contender bout between WEC and Strikeforce veteran, Alvin Cacdac and Hawaiian Louis Smolka. Cacdac looks to stay unbeaten inside the PXC cage against a very athletic Smolka. He is coming off a very impressive submission victory over Rex Wa-o last July of 2012 at PXC 31.
On the flip side, fresh from his submission win over Bryan To Hang Lam on November, Louis Smolka is facing his toughest opponent to date against Cacdac. Whoever wins this bout will put himself in the no. 1 spot for Ale Cale’s flyweight title.
Team Lakay’s Troy “The Hunter” Bantiag starts hunting again as he battles the tallest bantamweight in PXC roster, Tony Reyes. After Jon delos Reyes handed Bantiag his first career loss at PXC 33, “The Hunter” is all set to scrap and this time, he aims to not only win, but to win in an impressive fashion. But that might be a hard thing to do as he will face a fellow up-and-coming fighter in Tony Reyes of Guam. Reyes is a tough dude and I know he cannot wait to fight Bantiag and put himself back in the winning column. Reyes has fought former WEC bantamweight contender Rolando Perez, Korean Top Team’s David Cho and the heavy-handed Alex Castro. So this kid is not a walk in the park fight for Bantiag as he is going up against a very talented kid in Reyes.
Egon “The Piranha” Racz, after almost 3 years of not fighting inside the cage, is back to face submission specialist, Chuji Kato of Japan as a late replacement for the injured Hong Seung Chan.
