PXC 34: Can Ale Cali Defend His Flyweight Title Against Erwin Tagle?

Pacific Xtreme Combat’s flyweight division is slowly making huge statements in Asian MMA scene, developing unbelievable fighters with tremendous talents who are surely going to be a world MMA champions in the near future.

PXC’s current flyweight champion is the very slick and adept fighter from Davao, Philippines, “The Young Gun” Ale Cali.

Although some critics are saying that his recent fight with Jesse Taitano was not that impressive, he still showed us what a true champion is all about when he survived a numerous submission attempts by Taitano and stopped his Guamanian opponent in the third round.

Cali has been out for almost 9 months due to some injuries he suffered during practice, which unluckily made him to wait for quite a long period of time before getting back inside the cage.

“The Young Gun” is now back to face a heck of a fighter in Erwin Tagle in a gigantic event that will surely put him in the pinnacle of his MMA career. It won’t be an easy fight for him though, as his next foe is known for being such a very clever fighter and a superb grappler who never backs down from any challenge. Cali even said that he used to idolized Tagle in one of his interviews.

Cali needs to keep the fight standing if he wants to knock Tagle out because in my opinion, Tagle’s gameplan would be to take him down early in the fight. Tagle is surely aware that Taitano has exposed some holes in Cali’s game, which obviously his grappling.

I’m so excited to see this fight because these two warriors are the best in their division and will surely bring fireworks on November 17th in Smart Araneta Coliseum. I can’t wait to see Tagle’s comeback and also, I’m so stoked to see the improvement of Cali’s grappling game agianst the man who has been considered by many as one of the pioneers of Filipino MMA.

Can a veteran fighter Tagle pull an upset over the champion or are we going to see a much more complete and dangerous MMA fighter in Ale Cali? We’ll see when these two insane fighters meet inside the PXC cage on 17 November 2012 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
