ONE FC Clears Some Issues On Why Folayang And Laursen Are Unable To Fight For The Title In ONE FC 6

You probably already know about Zorobabel Moreira fighting Japanese Shooto champion, Kotetsu Boku for the first-ever ONE FC lightweight title in Singapore for ONE FC 6 ‘Rise of Kings’ scheduled on 6 October 2012.

Before this announcement happened, ONE FC CEO, Victor Cui has already said during ‘Pride of a Nation’ that Philippines’ own, Eduard Folayang will fight for the title on October 6. But after a week, news started to come out about Folayang not able to fight for the title. Folayang’s supporters obviously got disappointed for what they heard because they knew that fighting for the ONE FC title is a huge opportunity for Folayang.

We spoke with ONE FC officials about this issue and they want to make things clear on why Folayang is unavailable to fight on October 6th for the title.

ONE FC officials told us that Folayang is unable to fight for the title next month due to his URCC commitments. They also told us that Eduard Folayang is guaranteed a title shot as the no.1 contender, but due to URCC commitments, he could not make it for ‘Rise of Kings’.

So that simply means Folayang will face the winner between Moreira and Boku for the ONE FC lightweight strap.

Also, earlier this week, news came out about Ole Laursen fighting for the lightweight belt against Moreira. Everybody thought it was a done deal because Victor Cui mentioned it on one of his Tweets.

But after several days, the Moreira-Laursen match-up called off due to Laursen’s management did not agree to the contractual terms laid out by ONE FC. Ole was offered the fight and he accepted it, so the problem is not in ONE FC neither in Ole, but to his management.

Despite of Folayang and Laursen’s unavailability to fight Moreira for the lightweight strap, ONE FC has done an incredible job on finding a replacement who is dangerous as Folayang and Laursen.

ONE FC signed the Japanese lightweight champion, Kotetsu Boku to face Zorobabel Moreira for the first-ever lightweight championship. The Shizuoka native has been fighting since 2001 and fought and beat some of the best lightweights in Asia.

Many may think that Boku will be an easy opponent for Moreira. But in my opinion, Boku will be Moreira’s toughest opponent to date. Moreira hasn’t fought as dangerous and gifted as Boku. So this fight is guaranteed fireworks. Both guys will surely look to finish the fight as quick as possible because both of them will surely give their all to become the best in their division and to be a part of ONE FC history as the very first lightweight champion.
