ONE FC 5 Results: Fernandes dominates Falciroli, Folayang victorious over Enomoto, Kelly stays unbetean

ONE FC made history as they rocked Manila with great and explosive fights.

Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario showed his improved boxing game as he demolished his fellow Filipino fighter, Andrew Benibe in the third round. ONE FC CEO, Victor Cui was impressed by Banario’s performance, that’s why he decided to put Banario into their October 6th card in Singapore against another Filipino fighter, Eric Kelly for the inaugural ONE FC featherweight championship.

Shannon Wiratchai shocked a lot of Evolve supporters as he defeated Mitch Chilson via second round TKO. Many fans believed it was a bad stoppage by the referee, but the damage has been done, I guess we’ll going to see a rematch on October.

A classic Phil Baroni showed up against Rodrigo Ribiero. Baroni was super aggressive in the opening seconds throwing some crisp punches on Ribiero. Baroni continued his attack until he landed some solid shots that dropped Ribiero into the ground; the referee stepped in to save “Ximbica” from any further damage. Baroni won via first round TKO.

Gregor Gracie looked so dangerous tonight against a very game Nicholas Mann. Gregor was very cautious in the early minutes of the fight because he knows that Nicholas Mann is dangerous in the striking department. Gregor had some successful take downs and was able to land  some ground and pound. Gregor submitted Mann via arm bar in the very first round.

Soo Chul Kim outclassed Kevin Belingon as he utilized his wrestling to impress the judges and shut the crowd up. Kim exploited Belingon’s weakness and that is his wrestling. Belingon had a hard time defending Kim’s take down. Kim wins via unanimous decision. Kim is scheduled next to face Evolve’s Leandro Issa for the first-ever ONE FC bantamweight championship.

Another South Korean fighter looked very impressive tonight as Jung Hwan Cha stopped Igor Gracie in the 3rd round.

Rolles Gracie finally showed what he is capable of when he stopped Tony Bonello in the third round.

Eric Kelly beats the very dangerous Jens Pulver in the second round. Pulver managed to hurt Kelly with his powerful left hand but the Filipino fighter fought his heart out through the first round. Kelly used his counter-punching skills to intimidate Pulver until he connected a right, followed it up with a knee, connects a hard left kick to the body that dropped Pulver and finished the fight with few more punches.

Afer the fight, Pulver stated that Kelly is the Manny Pacquiao of Filipino MMA.

Victor Cui announced that Kelly will go up against Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario for the first-ever ONE FC featherweight championship on October 6th in Singapore.

The Sylvia-Arlovski scrap was kind of a disappointment because it was decisioned to be a ‘no contest’ fight. A more powerful and technical Arlovski showed up against Sylvia in Manila.

Arlovski looked very dangerous in the first round; he also used a lot of kicks to slow Sylvia down. In the second round, Arlovski continued his relentless attack on Sylvia until he sucessfully connects a three-punch combo to put the bigger Sylvia to the ground. As soon as Syvlia hit the ground, Arlovski rushed in and kicked the downed fighter twice without Yuji Shimada’s signal for open attacks. The fans are very angry when it was announced that the fight is a ‘no contest’. We’ll probably see Sylvia vs. Arlovski 5 in the future.

Filipino MMA icon Eduard Folayang is back on the winning track as he defeated Felipe Enomoto via unanimous decision. It was indeed the fight of the night as both guys gave their all to entertain the fans. After the fight, Victor announced that Eduard will fight for the inaugural ONE FC lightweight championship. Although the name of Eduard’s next foe isn’t announced, we have a strong feeling that he’ll face Evolve’s Zorobabel Moreira.

Bibiano Fernandes proved that he is worthy to be called “The Flash” as he showcased his speed, power and agility against CFC bantamweight champion, Gustavo Falciroli. Fernandes dominated from the first up to the last round. With this win over Gustavo, I think Fernandes is the most dangerous bantamweight outside the UFC.
