Leandro is an Instructor at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts in Singapore. He is a Mundials World Champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with over 13 years of experience. He has won numerous regional and national titles in Brazil.
Leandro is a type of guy who you don’t want to mess with. A former MCFC Featherweight Champion, he currently is a professional MMA fighter with a 9-2 record and competes in ONE Fighting Championship, Asia’s largest and most prestigious MMA event.
Leandro has also competed in the Art of War, China’s largest MMA organization. Leandro also has professional MMA fights in Brazil and the US. He has also been working on his Muay Thai with the famous Sityodtong Team. Leandro’s favorite BJJ techniques include the rear naked choke, omoplata, and flying triangle choke.
The Ubatuba, Brazil native is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He trained under Roberto “Gordo” Correa at Evolve Brazil before coming to Evolve Singapore to live and teach on a permanent basis.
Back when he was a kid, Brodinho is always getting involved into street fights. That’s why at the age of 14, he started learning BJJ, “When I was young, I always give my parents a headache. I got into many street fights all the time, but BJJ changed my life and made me understand honor and respect. It also teaches me how to be calm and humble.” Leandro added.
The Brazilian submission ace started his MMA career in 2005, beating Eduardo Felipe via submission. On July 15, 2011 it was announced that Issa had signed with One Fighting Championship. On July 18, it was announced that Issa would be facing unbeaten Korean prospect, Soo Chul Kim at ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 3, 2011. Brodinho won via unanimous decision against a very young and talented bantamweight fighter from South Korea.
Though it was Issa’s first fight in the Bantamweight division, he proved that he really is a much stronger, faster and scarier fighter in the 135 pound limit than any fighters in ONE FC’s bantamweight division.
Issa’s BJJ is definitely on another level, but the other scary fact about this fighter, is that he is just entering his prime and he is refining his striking game through the help of some of the best muay thai world champions who trains and teaches at Evolve MMA in Singapore.
There are speculations that Issa will be making his second appearance in One FC on 23 June 2012 at Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ONE Fighting Championship 4: Destiny of Warriors.
