Belingon vs Sityodtong for One FC 2 in Indonesia?

Youth and talent versus Experience.

It’s been almost three months since the first event of One FC and it really proved that the organization is no doubt the biggest mma league in Asia.

One FC’s next show is scheduled on February 11, 2012 in Jakarta, Indonesia, dubbed as “Battle of Heroes”.

Although the fight card for One FC 2 is not yet released, mma fans all over Asia wants to put themselves in the shoes of One FC’s matchmaker because they are keened to see a fight between two top bantamweight prospects in Asia, Team Lakay’s Kevin “Silencer” Belingon and Evolve MMA’s Yodsanan Sityodtong.

Let’s start looking at both Yodsanan and Kevin’s profile:

Red Corner: Yodsanan Sityodtong

Nick Name: 3k Battery

MMA record: 1-0

Height: 135 lbs (62kg)

Weight: 5’6″

Birth Date: 1974-08-17

Age: 37

Country: Thailand

Yodsanan is an Instructor at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts in Singapore.  He is currently an undefeated professional MMA fighter for ONE Fighting Championship, Asia’s largest and most prestigious MMA event.  Yodsanan was the WBA World Champion in Boxing from 2002 to 2005 in the Super Featherweight division. He is currently ranked in the top 5 in the world.

His professional fight record in Western Boxing is 58-3-1 with 47 KOs. He is currently one of Thailand’s top professional boxers with a nickname of Little Tyson for his monstrous punching power and KO percentage. A seasoned southpaw, he has a devastating left cross and overhand left punch.  Yodsanan also has over 50 professional Muay Thai fights.

Boxing

Yodsanan turned pro in 1993 and won his first five fights by KO. In 1997 he defeated Run Tangkilisan to win the interim PABA Super Featherweight Title. He defended the title 18 times before vacating it in order to challenge for the WBA Super Featherweight title which he won by defeating Lakva Sim on 13 April 2004.

Yodsanan successfully defended the title three times defeating Lamont Pearson, Ryuhei Suguta and Steve Forbes. On 30 April 2007 he faced challenger Vicente Mosquera at Madison Square Garden. Yodsanan became the first man to ever knock Mosquera down but still lost the fight by unanimous decision.

On 2 February 2009 Yodsanan defeated Jonathan Simamora by third round KO to win the vacant IBF Australasian Light Welterweight title.

Muay Thai

Yodsanan has fought several professional Muay Thai fights. Notably on 8 March 2007 when he fought Bovy Sor Udomson at Ratchadamnern Stadium losing by decision.

Mixed Martial Arts

In 2011 it emerged that Yodsanan had started training in Mixed Martial Arts at Evolve MMA in Singapore.

On July 15, 2011 it was announced that Yodsanan had signed with ONE Fighting Championship. This has led some journalists to suggest that Yodsanan will be the best boxer to ever switch from boxing to MMA.

Yodsanan made his professional debut when he fought South African Muay Thai champion Daniel Mashamaite at ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 3. He won the fight via KO in the second round after landing a big knee to the face of his opponent.

 

Blue Corner: Kevin “Silencer” Belingon

Country: Philippines

Kevin Belingon is a Filipino mixed martial artist from Kiangan, Ifugao, Philippines. He is a Wushu expert and the reigning flyweight champion of the URCC, the biggest MMA promotion in the Philippines . He has a perfect record of 9-0 and has fought for Martial Combat in Singapore and Legend FC in Hong Kong as well as the URCC.

Belingon is a powerful striker with superb conditioning, capable of wearing down even the most seasoned of opponents, and he is quickly making a name for himself as one of the most promising bantamweight fighters in the Asia-Pacific.

He is a member of Team Lakay Wushu in Baguio City which is also home to URCC pinweight champion Roy Docyogen, URCC welterweight champion Eduard Folayang and URCC Lightweight champion Honorio Banario. He is a BS in Criminology graduate.

Wushu Sanshou

Belingon is a former Wushu Sanshou champion winning multiple gold medals in the Philippines.

MMA

Belingon’s first international mma fight is against Ngoo Ditty of Thailand in Martial Combat 2 on May 13, 2010. He dismantled Ditty in just two minutes and fifty-one seconds  (2:51)  of the very first round via tko (punches).

Belingon’s second international mma fight was in Legend FC 2 against a top South Korean bantamweight prospect, Jo Nam Jin.

Belingon entered the Legend FC ring as an underdog against Jo but he was not distracted by being an underdog because he knew that his game is too much for the South Korean fighter. Kevin won via unanimous decision and proved that he is one of the best bantamweight fighters in Asia.

Belingon’s last fight before suffering a shoulder injury was against Isaac Tuling in URCC 19-Collision on April 2, 2011 for a superfight title. Once again, Kevin Belingon showed no mercy by knocking Tuling out via tko (head kick and punches) in the first round.

Team Lakay head coach, Mark Sangiao said that Belingon is ready for anyone and will gladly sign the contract if One FC offers them to fight Yodsanan Sityodtong.
